Santa Monica may never be able to solve the regional and national problem of people living unhoused on our streets, but with the support of residents, City staff, and dedicated local social service agencies, we have over many years made gratifying and steady progress.

In receiving the annual report for 2014, I reviewed the history and the victories, suggesting that we might now focus on preventing homelessness for our own residents threatened with eviction.
